We have an invited speaker for our next Biomaterials Seminar (Tuesday 26th). Dr Paul Genever. is Reader in the Department of Biology, University of York. His talk is titled “Stem cells versus stromal cells; disentangling MSC function”. Paul is an expert on stem cells, cell signalling and tissue remodeling. From his group website:

Our work is focused on identifying cellular and molecular pathways that regulate differentiated tissue function, primarily in skeletal and haematopoietic systems (bone, cartilage, marrow, blood). This requires an understanding of the fundamental signalling mechanisms that determine stem cell fate, tissue remodelling, repair and regeneration and how to apply this knowledge to treat human disease conditions.
